New Snowshoeing Trails in Gatineau Park

According to a reliable source, new snowshoeing trails will be added to the existing network in the Gatineau Park. The existing winter map currently shows only 5 snowshoe trails (totaling 20 kilometers or approximately 12.5 miles):
  • #60/61 (near Gatineau Park Visitor's Centre in Chelsea)
  • #62 also known as Blanchet & Wolf's Trails (from Parking #13 near Meech Lake)
  • #70/71 (from Parking #15 on Cross Loop road)
  • #72 (from Parking #17 near Wakefield)
  • #73 (from Parking #19 near Lac Philippe)
The additional trails will be a welcomed given the exploding popularity of snowshoeing.

The new winter map showing the new trails should be available in early December.

Stay tuned for details!

Thanks for the heads up and the link to the additional details.

Looking at the winter trail map, there are three cabins between XC trail #51 and snowshoe trail #73: Philippe, Des Pins & Renaud. Any idea which one will be linked by the new trail?

The summer trail map doesn't seem to leave any hints as to the path of the new trail.

No I don't. I'm not as familiar with the trails or cabins up there.

I think some of them are for sleeping and only one is a day shelter. I'm guessing it's that one.

The person I spoke to was a little vague in her description of just where the trail wandered.

According to the winter trail map, Philippe and Des Pins are cabins while Renaud is a shelter. If your guess is correct, the new snowshoe trail should hook up with the Renaud shelter.
